Ann Curry
Ann Curry, an American photojournalist and journalist who has reported on wars and natural disasters for over 45 years, focuses on the hardships of the people living in these regions. Curry's maternal grandmother is Japanese and her father was an American Navy Sailor. After World War II, her parents became acquainted when their father was in Japan. Her father was in the military and her family was forced to relocate frequently. They finally moved to Ashland Oregon where Curry attended high school. She graduated with a journalism diploma from the University of Oregon in 1978. It is possible that she developed an empathetic communication style due to her exposure to diverse cultures in her early years. After that, she moved in Los Angeles four years later to work as a reporter for KCBS TV. The time she worked with this station for six years that she received two Emmy Awards.
